Raglan and Llansantffraed - Mike and Fliss - 4th Aug 07

Fliss’s wedding was booked with us over two years ago.
Fliss and her sister Danielle (bridesmaid) came for a portrait sitting some four years ago now for a surprise present for Mum … the family were so pleased with it that we were invited to cover Fliss’s wedding.
We turned up at rehearsal the night before to be told no photographs during the ceremony … oh dear … been here before. However after a few private words with Joan, the vicar, and explaining our natural documentary style and that we were all about capturing emotion and insisting that a re-enactment wouldn’t quite cut it, she, very kindly, gave us the permission we needed. Hooray! I’m sure that being able to see pictures of their ceremony as it happened will mean so much more to Fliss and Mike … those little smiles and exchanged glances are the real essence of recalling the emotion of the day.
Eric the video man was extremely pleasant and an “old school” professional, no fuss, but clearly very experienced and good at his job. (Memories Video Services, Coleford (01594) 832769) — I’m always a little concerned when working with videographers, but Eric is on my “if you must have a video please use this chap” list.
After a lovely service the Millenium Hand Bells played during the signing of the register, enjoyed by everyone. Immediately after the ceremony we shot the few family formals and made our way to Llansantffraed Court Hotel for the reception.
The weather looked a bit dicey … but we had plenty of time, so let the couple greet their guests and enjoy their welcome drink. As the afternoon progressed the sun came out, allowing us to capture some really effective low angle golden light of the happy couple leading into a glorious evening.
Thanks to Graham and Sue (Fliss’s parents) for fixing it for us to enjoy the full monty with the guests … a welcome and much appreciated touch. Nearly all of our wedding couples and their families become firm friends which is one of the aspects of what we do that Fran and I really treasure.
The evening fireworks were, as ever, spectacular …. we got home just after 11pm but we still had a couple of hours to work into the early hours of the morning to make that sure everything was saved, archived and cleaned down for the following day …

Highlights from the wedding can be seen HERE
