Caerphilly Castle - Shabe and Rachel - 1st December
A rather wet and windy day was not going to deflect Rachel and Shabe from their packed schedule … lots to fit in and fit in it would (or else!).
The couple booked a late afternoon wedding at the castle because of it’s magnificence when flood-lit in the evening.
We all travelled for a pre-wedding shoot a couple of weeks before and were walking around mentally noting the position of the flood lights and what extra lighting we might need for some amazing evening shots.
Obviously we were somewhat worried about the weather …. what nobody told us was that most of the floodlights had fused some months ago and work to repair them all was not sheduled until January.
Wonderful! A late afternoon wedding, in the dark and a couple of bare bulb spotlights and a couple of floodlights that remained working …. fortunately I had my full location lighting kit and radio equipment with me, so with a little help from the ushers to move everything around we DID manage to produce some really atmospheric and interesting images.
Transport for guests and the boy’s team was by Red London Bus and a vintage car for the bride.
The registrars were extremely co-operative and allowed photography throughout the ceremony and we got some really emotional shots. Our speciality is the “story of the day” …. and this was a special day.
