Holy Trinity Penarth - Neil and Ellie
A busy time of year for wedding photographers and for todays wedding we set off to Penarth, Cardiff for Neil and Ellie’s wedding. Our weekends are full of smiling people and on arrival at the brides home, smiles greeted Fran by the bucket load. Rob met Neil and the lads at St Davids Hotel, followed by pictures out and about before arriving at Holy Trinity Methodist Church.
Ellie’‘s parents have been renovating their very charming cottage with today’s wedding as a looming deadline, best to have a target in mind! A very grand job too! Fran found Ellie in the master suite having her hair and make-up professionally done.
Arrival at the church to yet more happy people together with Neil and his best men, Pete and Ian.
Ellie looked amazing in her Suzanne Neville dress and her entrance was graceful, held tightly by her father. Our minister today was Teddie, and our thanks go to him for being such a great guy, we really want to take him to all of our weddings! The Male Voice Choir sang their hearts out and it was a joy to listen too.
Also today we had Andrew from SLR Creations with us, who turned out to be the professional’s professional.
After a very short drive we arrived on the cliffs at Penarth and with the sun out and the wind getting up we set to and did just a few fun shots before heading back to Ellie’s parent’ss house for the reception.
Stuart and his team from County Marquees had been busy for a few days prior to the wedding erecting a marquee in the garden, and it all looked very grand indeed. Strawberry Fields did the catering and an excellent job too, we were looked after very well in the dining dept!
The speeches were interesting and we found out lots about our couple. The Master of Ceremonies, Richard, kept everything running smoothly although at one stage we were afraid we were going to miss the light for our “special” session.
Most of our couples are looking for something extra ordinary from their wedding images when they book us, so we had made arrangements to go to Penarth Pier after the speeches, and with Rob given the keys to Ellie and Neil’s classic Mercedes “pagoda” sports car (they had too many champagnes!!) we made our way down the hill to the sea front.
To the crowds still using Penarth Pier, they were in for a treat……dark thundery clouds, dark hints of blue evening light, and enough wind to lift the cathedral veil for some stunning shots … many thought we were all mad but plenty clapped and cheered. Ellie and Neil, thank you so much for a wonderful day and for being up for anything!!
Have a fab honeymoon and we’ll catch up with you soon. Thanks also to both sets of parents and Ellie’s sister, Meg, who looked after us royally.
