Fireworks at Clearwell Castle
It’s often challenging as wedding photographers to find something “new” at a venue that you are familiar with. This photo involved tramping through wet fields to get to a good vantage point and carrying a tripod and some lighting as well as trying to keep it all dry under an umbrella!
It was also a chance to show off what the amazing Nikon 14-24 f2.8 full frame wide-angle zoom lens can do.
The picture was taken on Mike and Allison’s wedding at Clearwell Castle at the end of August. I set Fran up to take the “normal” firework shots from the castle steps in case my expedition was unsuccessful as mine was only going to be a “one-shot” wonder.
The field in the foreground and un-lit portions of the castle wall have been picked out by “light-painting” with a daylight filtered videographers light.
The extra-ordinary effort was rewarded with a lovely image!
